What our laser treatments look like

FAQS:

Q: How many treatments are needed?

A: On average, it takes 6-10 treatment sessions to achieve permanent hair reduction. The frequency of sessions depends on the area of the body treated.

Q: Is laser hair removal painful?

A: Normally the answer to this question is yes, but our laser machine in particular has a unique -8 degree cooling tip that eases the heat and discomfort making it virtually pain-free and very tolerable. It's normal to feel some slight discomfort in sensitive areas (like your underarms), but you shouldn't be in pain. Most men and women explain that laser hair removal feels like tiny rubber bands flicking your skin.

Q: Length of time between treatments?

A: It depends. Most men and women need a series of six to eight treatments. Each is spaced about four to eight weeks apart, for optimal results. Although laser hair removal is permanent, in some cases it's possible to have new hair growth. This is most common during periods of hormonal fluctuations (particularly around pregnancy). If you ever have new hair grow in the treated area again, you can always come back to THE SKYN FIX for touch-up treatments as needed.

Q: Is Laser Hair Removal Permanent?

A:
Laser hair removal is sometimes over-promised as being “permanent” and that “you will never have to shave, wax, tweeze, etc.” ever again – it’s just not possible. Single hairs may be permanently removed if the follicle is destroyed.
That single follicle will not regrow. However, the best you can expect from laser hair removal treatments is 70% – 80% of the hair is totally removed. The remaining hairs should be more fine, thin, and lighter in colour.

  • Pre-treatment care

To maximize results with proper pre-care, it is important to ensure all laser clients are taking these crucial steps prior to your laser appointments.

*Your safety is our priority, a patch test & consultation is mandatory for all laser clients*

Arrive to appointments with clean shaven skin in the treatment area. The closer the shave the better. If it is your first time, leave a small patch of hair for us to examine.

0 No tanning of any kind minimum 4 weeks prior to laser treatments (this includes fake tans as well).

0 Avoid all alpha hydroxy and beta hydroxyl products (AHA/BHA), hydroquinone, retinols/retinoid, Tazorac, and Differin for 2 weeks prior to the treatment due to skin sensitivity.

0 No creams, SPFs, moisturizers or deodorant. Arrive with clean skin. NO products!

0 Clients must stop waxing, tweezing and chemical epilation 3 weeks prior to treatment. ( only method of hair removal prior to appointment must be shaving)

0 Clients who have used Accutane or similar products within the last 6 months cannot have laser hair removal treatments.

  • POST- TREATMENT CARE

In order to avoid any discomfort. Follow these after care instruction post treatments. (What to potentially expect and avoid after treatment).

Avoid ALL kinds of sun exposure! This includes tanning beds. If you cannot avoid sun exposure, cover your treated areas in clothing and keep it out of direct sunlight.

ALWAYS wear a minimum of 30 SPF all over your body, and reapply every 2 hours.

0 Avoid sweating, physical exercise for 48 hours, no saunas, and hot showers

0 Use pure aloe vera gel to calm and moisturize the skin, avoid anything with fragrance

0 No makeup & lotion/moisturizer/deodorant for the first 24 hours.Keep the treated area clean & dry, if further redness or irritation persists, skip your makeup & moisturizer, & deodorant (for underarms) until the irritation has subsided.

0 Do not pick/scratch/wax/thread/tweeze the area.Avoid picking or scratching the treated skin. Do not use any other hair removal methods or products other than shaving on the treated area during the course of your laser treatments, as it will prevent you from achieving the best results.

0 Redness & Bumps are normal. It is common to have redness & bumps immediately after your treatment within the treatment area. It is normal for the treated area to feel like a sunburn for a few hours. You should use a cold compress if the sensitivity continues. If there is any crusting apply a hydrocortisone cream.
